“Not long had passed after the 2018 new year when Miyako, a high school friend, contacted me. She started a travel agency business and wanted me to make a special advertisement for the summer resort tour and a catalog. Summer resort, a remote island, a beach with palm trees... such a nice feeling to remember. Although those resorts we miss are only fantasy. The feeling of remembering something that we have not experienced is familiar to the generation born after the 1980s, which has been exposed to mass media since childhood. In summer, I remember reading comic books on the floor with a watermelon and a fan during vacation. In fact, I did not enjoy comic books when I was a child, I did not live in a house with a hardwood floor, but it seems to be a fake summer experience influenced Japanese ani- mation- a fake experience of summer. Because I did not actually experience these things, they are more ideal and I feel more nos- talgic. This sense can also be found in fantasies that we feel about a specific or unspecified place. I have always had a longing to visit Hawaii, which comes from an admiration of the fantasy that Hawaii is a standard resort and paradise which has a perfect beach land- scape. I am sure that this fantasy will not change even if I really visit Hawaii and just discover a plain American city. Because the illusions learned from the media are powerful enough to deny experience.”
